ROME – July 11, 2025 – Continuing the strong momentum on the second day of the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC), Ukrgasbank (UGB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed another major agreement to provide significant new financing for the Ukrainian economy. The agreement is built on a risk-sharing model with a guarantee from the EBRD, backed by first-loss risk cover funded by France and the European Union. The Facility enables Ukrgasbank to channel up to €300 million in new loans to support Ukrainian businesses and households.
KYIV, 10 July 2025 – Ukrgasbank and the European Investment Bank (EIB) today announce a multi-part financial package at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) in Rome. The facilities provide €120 million in targeted loans and a new EU-backed portfolio guarantee that will unlock more financing for small and medium businesses, marking a powerful start to the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025.
DTEK has reached an agreement with a consortium of Ukrainian banks on a record-breaking loan facility to support a cutting-edge energy storage systems project in Ukraine. Oschadbank, UGB and FUIB are jointly providing around UAH 3 billion (approximately EURO 67 million) to fund the construction of one of the largest energy storage facilities in Eastern Europe.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has, for the fifth consecutive year, honored Ukrgasbank (UGB) with the prestigious 'Most Active Issuing Bank in Ukraine' award under its Trade Facilitation Programme (TFP).
Ukrgasbank (UGB) became a partner to the Veterans’ Reintegration Conference, a significant event that convened over 250 stakeholders, including government officials, business leaders, financial sector representatives, international partners, and members of the veteran community.
UGB has reaffirmed its position as the top trade finance provider in Ukraine, securing first place among Ukrainian banks in 2024 by the volume of issued guarantees and letters of credit. According to data published by the National Bank of Ukraine, the total value of financial support extended to Ukrainian businesses exceeded UAH 11.23 billion.
Since the beginning of 2024, UGB (Ukrgasbank) has consistently ranked among the top ten most profitable banks in Ukraine. For the first nine months of 2024, the bank reported a net profit of nearly UAH 4.7 billion, marking an increase of UAH 1.7 billion compared to the same period in 2023. This underscores the bank's operational efficiency during wartime conditions.
Since the beginning of 2024, Ukrgasbank has issued 50 letters of credit totalling USD 100 million. The average amount of one issued letter of credit is USD 2 million, which indicates that the bank supports not only large corporate customers but also deals with medium-sized enterprises.
Ukrgasbank has been honored with this prestigious award at the Global SME Finance Forum 2024 in São Paulo, Brazil — the flagship international forum aimed at promoting SME financing, organized on the initiative of the IFC.
UGB (Ukrgasbank) has become one of the first two banks in Ukraine to join the EBRD’s Energy Security Support Facility (ESSF), a landmark programme that will enable the country’s financial sector to provide better access to financing for energy security investments in Ukraine.
Ukrgasbank has undergone a restyling, changing its brand positioning and corporate style. From now on, Ukrgasbank will use the name "UGB - Eco Bank" and a new identity, including a new logo, in its communications. The updated brand positioning takes into account the new meanings and challenges that have arisen during the full-scale war, while maintaining the bank's unwavering focus on environmental sustainability. However, Ukrgasbank has not officially changed its name.
