EIB and UGB Drive Development of Ukrainian Businesses
As part of their official visit to Ukraine, representatives of the European Investment Bank Group visited Goodevas - one of Ukrainian companies that received financing from UGB (Ukrgasbank), backed by the EIB’s guarantee mechanism programme. Goodevas, a long-standing client of UGB, specialises in eco-friendly toys and sports equipment for children.
Operating from its Kyiv-based production facility, Goodevas has primarily targeted international markets, leveraging platforms like Amazon, Etsy, and Shopify to reach customers in the US, Canada, the EU, and the UK. In 2025, the company plans to expand its operations domestically and enter the Ukrainian market. Goodevas's product range includes a wide variety of items for children's development and sports.
The EIB's guarantee mechanism improves access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), enabling them to obtain funding with reduced collateral requirements. This provides Ukrainian enterprises with opportunities for growth, even amidst wartime challenges. For instance, Goodevas directed the funding received under the guarantee mechanism towards replenishing working capital, which allowed it to maintain its production volumes. and even plan for strategic market expansion. Currently, the company is planning to expand its sales markets.
The Goodevas company serves as just one of many examples demonstrating pivotal role of the long-standing cooperation between UGB and the EIB Group in fostering the resilience and growth of Ukrainian SMEs.
For reference: the cooperation between UGB and EIB Group began in 2018. During this time, more than 200 SMEs were financed for a total amount of almost 40 million euros.
The finance provided to UGB (JSB “UKRGASBANK”) has been made possible through the support of the European Union under the EU4Business Guarantee Facility.
